My name’s Simon Holden. I’m a visual effects artist and graphic designer, now retired. I didn’t plan to make a game.

Decades ago, I started creating silly book titles and ridiculous author names to go with them—simply to entertain my son.

More recently, I’ve been sharing my growing collection of fake books on Substack at TITLE by AUTHOR.

At first it was just the title of the book followed by the name of the author. But then I began illustrating the fictitious book covers. And I published some picture books with the designs.

And that’s when something unexpected happened…

A nurse in the UK showed one of my books to her dementia patients.

One of them didn’t want to give the book back!

That’s when I thought to myself...
